Price: RM 0.70 per piece

I’m so elated because I get to eat kee zhang today. Yum! I’m not fond of bak zhang (rice dumplings) but I love kee zhang (made from glutinous rice that had been soaked in lye water).

Kee zhang is dipped in gula melaka syrup before you put into your mouth :3~ Oooh…

The kee zhang which mom bought from Greenlane morning market has red bean paste fillings. The fillings are not sweet and quite generous in portion. So when a bite is taken, you have an equal proportion of both the glutinous rice and red bean paste with the right amount of sweetness from the syrup.

You can read more about local rice dumplings at PenangFaces which describe them in better details.
